How to Use Google AdWords Effectively - Without Losing Money!

Are you frustrated when you use AdWords? Are you losing money every time you try? Then stop wasting your time and money. You have just found the solution to your problem. This article will explain how to make money using Google AdWords.

Google AdWords is a system which allows you to drive targeted traffic to a website. The costs of AdWords are calculated on a pay-per-click (PPC) system. You simply bid on your adverts against other advertisers.

But why is it so easy to lose money on AdWords?

Many people dive straight into an advertising campaign without first thoroughly researching their keywords, and crucially, their competitors.

Be Specific

If you're selling facial exfoliation products on your website you need to make sure your keywords are related.  Settings up ad AdWords campaign using keywords such as "beauty treatments", or "facial treatments" are too vague and will not target your niche audience.

Your niche audience is: people looking specifically for facial exfoliation. I know what you're thinking; facial exfoliation is a body treatment. You're quite right, it is. But having just typed into Google "body treatments" there are thousands upon thousands of websites, products, guides and recommendations with anything from body wraps to aromatherapy massages.

Out of the entire body treatments market your niche of facial exfoliation is very specific and of a much smaller group of people. Why pay for thousands of people to click on your advert, when maybe only 10% of those people are actually interested in your specific products?

Set a budget

AdWords has a very clever feature which allows you to set a daily budget. Now, you may have $100 to spend on advertising, but don't blow this all in one day, the market changes daily due to many influences. If your budget is $100 try setting a daily budget of $3.60. That way your campaign will last for a month (28 days).

Another way to keep costs low is to look at how much your cost-per-click is. Research your keywords and your competitors. A keyword of body treatments may well cost $1-5 per click, whereas a specific keyword of "facial exfoliation" may only cost $0.20. With a daily budget of $3.60 you could get 18 clicks per day, that's 500 clicks in a single month!
