How to Use Google AdWords to Set Up a Campaign and Drive Traffic to Your Site

Are you using Google's AdWords to send traffic to your website? If so, you need to learn as much as you can about how to set up a campaign and make the process work well for your needs. Even though setting up an AdWords account and bidding on keywords is not rocket science, you must have some basic knowledge of how to do it correctly.


The first step is to set up your account with Google. They will charge you a minimal amount, five dollars or so, and then your account will be created. Then you must choose whether you will be doing a pay per click campaign, or a site targeted one. The basic difference between the two is that with pay per click you are charged for every time someone clicks on your ad, and with site targeted you will only be charged every time your ad shows a thousand times, whether or not someone clicks on your ad.


Now you want to name your campaign. It will be best to name the project the name of your keyword or keyword phrase. Then set up an ad group with the name of the exact keywords you will be using in your campaign.


Google will then ask you to choose your language and location. If you are not sure which countries will be the best ones for the product or service you will be promoting with your ads, be sure to go to Google trends to see where people are searching for the information you have.


Now it is time to actually write your ad. The very best way is to look at other ads that are already running on Google. Just Google your topic and you will see the other ads. Do not copy them, but simply look to them for ideas to use in your own ads. Be sure to write two ads that will compete against each other when it comes to paying the least for your clicks.


Then set the maximum amount you are willing to spend each day on your campaign and the maximum price you will pay for each click. I recommend that you start out at a lower amount until you feel more comfortable with all of this. Review and save you campaign and it will begin to work for you very quickly.


Although there are many ways to drive targeted traffic to your product, using Google AdWords will be the fastest and most effective.
